Britt Woods Firehouse Run

Here are race results for the 6th Britt Woods Firehouse Run held in Jacksonville on July 21, 2007. Tina Ure from Mt. Shasta won her second Britt Woods Run in a row despite a one minute penalty for her win last year. Her daughter Andrea, age 10, competed in her first 10K ever, with a handicapped time of 1:29.27 (actual time 1:23.27). We are proud of you Andrea for taming a tough, hilly course in the heat.

Better keep your eyes on those fast-closing high school thin clads Drew Jordan (2nd place) and Elliott Jantzer (3rd place) who were just 10 and 25 seconds behind. I believe great things are in store for both of them.

A special thanks to Fire Chief Tracy Shaw and Jacksonville Engine Company # 1 for their help. Thanks to the Jacksonville merchants for their generous gifts. And Tracy, we sure enjoyed seeing your brand new red fire truck.

Joe and Jan Griffin, Chuck Whiteley and Bonnie Havens helped chalk the course the night before. (Just think how fast Joe would have gone today without tired legs from lugging a heavy bag of chalk all over the hills of Jacksonville only 12 hours before race time.) Finally, thanks to all the volunteers that helped make the race go so smoothly today.
