This years version of the annual Tough As Nails Mountain Trail Runs was held under variably cloudy skies on a fresh May morning in Medford's Prescott Park on Roxy Ann Peak. Again, the May explosion of wildflowers in Medford City Parks' largest property drew bright emotions from the brave runners toeing the starting line.
At the director's command, the crowd of 76 starters charged up the hill on this most challenging course. As in the past, a few curious deer and squirrels gazed on, but the rattle snakes, cougars, and bears all kept to their shy nature, and failed to make an appearance. The cooler weather and a slightly readjusted course led to some fast finish times, and again no one complained of a lack of toughness to the course.
